This morning I was listen to my morning devotion which included Luke 11. Here is the scripture:
The Light in You
33 “No one after lighting a lamp puts it in a cellar or under a basket, but on a stand, so that those who enter may see the light. 34 Your eye is the lamp of your body. When your eye is healthy, your whole body is full of light, but when it is bad, your body is full of darkness. 35 Therefore be careful lest the light in you be darkness. 36 If then your whole body is full of light, having no part dark, it will be wholly bright, as when a lamp with its rays gives you light.” ESV
Wow! Those verses have stuck with me all day. What do my eyes say to those I meet? I think of my friends and family. There are those whose eyes shine so very bright with God’s love and then there are those like me who hurt.
My friends, God does not want us to hurt. We are to surrender all of our cares to the one who knows what we are feeling. You know the one who we just celebrated, the One who took all of our shame and suffering and self doubt. We need, I need to rebuke those thoughts and cast them aside to God our Father.
When we fail to give them up, we are taking on a burden God never intended us to bear. He wants all that we are and all that we have. After all hasn’t He given us all of it anyway?
When life is too much, the person we love is hurting and nothing we do helps or gets rid of our or their pain, Lay It At The Foot of the CROSS! Place your request to Jesus, our intercessor and go about your day. See if Your burden becomes lighter and see if your Light changes from dark to Light for God. Make people want to know your secret!
Leave your thoughts here, or better yet, give them to God!
Father, I thank you for your word! It is always timely. Thank you for the reminder to give you my cares and burdens. Father, I ask for those who are hurting and in need of your word and touch. Send your helper, the Holy Spirit to give comfort and peace. In Jesus’ name I pray and ask, amen.
